Fri Aug 29, 7: Tim, thanks for the info. This put me in the BTDC range when the engine was at idle. So really the only other things to set are the throttle plates, which are set and are not to be touched, the fast idle linkage chokes disconnected so it doesn’t matter , the mixture screws on the carbs and the linkage My idle is pretty good, it just tends to go down pretty low sometimes when I stop.
I set the mixture screws so they were the same when opposite idle cutoff jets were disconnected. Do I just play with the linkage a little to get the idle up or down, or will that just mess with my air sync? I do plan on getting all the pieces for the dual carbs to work properly, but in the mean time I’d like to enjoy my bus before summer ends. So with your current distributor, your timing settings are correct. There are a couple of options to get the idle better and the progression from idle to WOT operable without causing an over-rich condition.
I’ve seen the way they are manufactured, I’ve thought to myself, this could be made a lot better with this a bit thicker, or this with a metal support through there. If they were better built, they would be Hondas. I try not to worry about failures too much. They are easy and cheap to fix.

The following few paragraphs is a set of rules I had to create because people were emailing me without enough information or asking really stupid questions that I had no way to answer. The rules didn’t just happen overnight, nor were they something I wanted to do. But I kept getting questions from people who didn’t do any reading or they asked a question I didn’t have any way to answer. Look at the rules, and think about the stupid question that I got asked 50 times, and you’ll understand why I had to write them.
Before emailing me with your questions, you must read and abide by these rules: Many of your questions are already asked and answered on this page. I keep getting loads of emails from people who want me to answer questions that are already answered here, and they are even claiming to have read the page.

All parts used in these pictorials are available at the diesel parts for sale page Mercedes Vacuum Troubleshooting Basics Vacuum, vacuum everywhere, or you wished it was. To many owners of the older Mercedes diesel cars, the vacuum system continues to be an amazing mystery. Full of weird components and even weirder operation of all kinds of stuff on the car. Well I am here to tell you today, it is not that complicated and mysterious.
To be quite frank, vacuum systems are much easier to both understand and troubleshoot, than an electrical system is. The purpose of this pictorial is not to troubleshoot the entire car. I will eventually do the entire car for you in several different pictorials. My main focus is the most common areas that I hear questions on, especially around the oil filter housing.
This critical area is where most of the leaks are going to happen. Because most cars are running around with the original connectors and check valves, that have swollen and hardened because of oil vapors and heat from the engine compartment.
Ice Is Building Up Moisture inside refrigerant lines can contaminate the lines, causing your air conditioning unit to become sluggish. Refrigerant already in the lines combines with the moisture that enters the lines. The two gold-colored valves are located on the refrigerant lines, where the lines enter the condensing unit.
A central vacuum system can be installed in both new and existing homes without any difficult labor. This guide will outline the necessary steps and procedures that should be taken to successfully install a whole house vacuum system in both an existing home and a new home being built.

Products are designed for clamping and holding parts while a secondary operation is performed through the open center. A typical application is where a flexible diaphragm is clamped between two metal retainers while a rivet or other form of fastener is added to the assembly thru the open center. The product line includes seven sizes from three inch O. Control is with plant air using a typical four way pneumatic valve circuit either manually operated for work close at hand or solenoid operated for remote locations as part of an automated process.
The MSD induces faster solenoid pull-in with a high input voltage then automatically reduces voltage during hold-in. This not only increases efficiency but extends solenoid life and saves energy. It also enables coils to be energized for an extended period of time without burnout.
However, p lanting accuracy will be influenced by seedbed conditions and the operating characteristics of the seed meter. Rough seedbeds and fast planting speeds above 5. The chart illustrates the effect operating speed has on population when using the vacuum meter. The operating band color area illustrates how the vacuum meter performs in relation to the desired population indicated by horizontal line. The width of the band is due to various sizes and shapes of seeds and planting rate variations.
To install a central vacuum you: Begin by locating and installing the power unit in the basement, garage, or another out-of-the-way place. Then you install inlet valves, strategically located throughout the home in wall-mounted (or sometimes floor) receptacles.
Some aircraft use a pressure pump system and even older models and some experimentals use a venturi placed under or attached to one side of the fuselage as a vacuum source. Aircraft with an EFIS system normally have a backup attitude indicator, either driven by air or electrical power. The gyroscopic instruments are: Some experimental VFR only aircraft will usually have the attitude indicator, but that really depends on the choice of the builder or owner of the aircraft.
The turn indicator is also used as backup and is therefore electrically driven and we will discuss that instrument too, but first we start with the power source of the attitude and gyro compass: The trend we see currently is to install EFIS glass cockpits in most aircraft. As a result, aircraft manufacturers now choose to install conventional gyro systems as a backup system in the cockpit, but these are mostly electrical driven types and a smaller version. Sometimes older airplanes are being converted to a hybrid form of cockpit where the mechanical gyro’s are replaced when they fail.
Typical Vacuum Gyro System A typical light aircraft gyro vacuum system consists of the following parts: Sometimes a warning light is installed and this illuminates when the suction drops below 4,5 inHg. Air is drawn in by the vacuum pump through a fine air filter and it enters the instruments to drive the gyro rotor. The air is then directed on the rotor by a small nozzle and the rotational speeds are set around RPM.

In Search of Central Vacuums by Gordon Bock Mention vacuum cleaners, and most people think of electrically powered machines they push or pull around the house. In today s cordless age, many folks take advantage of battery-powered vacuums that can be wielded with one hand, free from any volt umbilical cord. What they may not realize, however, is that the vacuum cleaner goes back more than a century, and its earliest incarnation was not as a mobile appliance but a built-in system that like running water or gas lighting was piped and ported throughout the house the central vacuum cleaner.
While portable electric vacuum cleaners date to at least the year Hoover manufactured its first model , the first central vacuums were around as early as or before. Besides being one of the period s appealing new technological marvels, such as inventive bathroom equipment or automobiles, a central vacuum system made good economic sense to owners of large suburban houses in the years before W orld War I.
Lots of rooms required lots of upkeep, and in a time when domestic help was already finding better opportunities in the workplace, a vacuum on every floor would help close the servant gap. Public buildings, such as auditoriums, were also experimenting with the system at the time. The heart of central vacuum cleaners was in the basement. Pipes from throughout the house terminated at a pump, fan, or turbine that pulled air though a crude filter system and exhausted it outdoors.
